Some NWS information changes rapidly in response to weather events so please pay attention to the date and time of the data and products displayed. In addition, NWS information may NOT be edited and then presented as official government material. Marine Weather forecasts need to be interpreted to make informed, localized decisions on the day. Most of us nowadays, depend for our forecasts on National Meteorological services. However, these services can rarely predict local conditions exactly. And much of the weather that affects leisure sailors tends to be rather small scale.

Mariner's weather Handbook is the first book about marine weather I've found (in more than 20 years of Marine weather book about and struggling with the subject) that has actually allowed me to (finally!) understand the constantly changing three-dimensional relationships between differing air masses and their fronts/5(7).

The chapters follow a logical progression and do not assume prior knowledge or a technical or mathematical background, as many weather text do. The beauty of the book is that it is written coming from the practical end of weather and meteorology.
